Jennifer* is 7 years old and one of three siblings, all of whom have different fathers. Jennifer lives a very quiet, confusing and dysfunctional life. Her mom gave birth to her at 15, but was not ready emotionally and was not physically able to take care of her. This young mom now lives in Georgia, calls her daughter frequently and always makes promises she cannot keep.
Fortunately, a very loving Grandma is caring for Jennifer. Sadly, I find this situation to be very common among

Man is Made by God -- like God -- for God
By
John Cragg
I was sitting in a diner reading a newspaper while waiting for an appointment. My eyes were rolling over the words, but I was focused on not eavesdrop on the conversation of two women behind me. But I had two problems in my effort. First, they were eighteen inches behind me and speaking too loud for such a topic. Second, it was painfully interesting, like watching a car wreck. One woman was reporting on “yet another failed relationship”, her third. “It must be something I’m doing.” I thought her statement had a high probability of being true. An Orphan's Story
By Larry Raab
Director, Long Island Ministry
Linda is a mentor. Every week she plans and then goes to pick up her young match, Jaclyn. However, Jaclyn lives in a group home. This group home, like most, uses a behavioral modification system that encourages the young people to earn their way into special privileges. Therefore, Jaclyn needs to be at a certain level in order to go out with her mentor. Linda never knows if they will be permitted to leave the grounds, or if they will be shown the day room where they will endure yet another hour of supervised Yahtzee.
But to be totally truthful, she did not expect to be able to leave the building. Linda was having a bad day already and dreaded the idea of being holed up in that dark room, again, playing yet another game of Yahtzee where the sound of dice echoes endlessly around the cinderblock walls. She wondered why she had even planned anything as she waited for Jaclyn to appear down that long, cold hallway.
